Gen Z is shaking things up in the world of work.
Gen Z-ers are carving out their own paths, focusing on what really matters to them: flexibility, purpose, and not sacrificing their personal lives for a job.
I’m Bryan, Co-Founder of PathSpark. We empower high school students through self-assessments and coaching to gain purpose and clarity on what life looks like after graduation. 🎓
Know a high school student struggling to figure out next steps? Respond to this email, I’d love to talk to you.
You know how we often hear that young people today are different?
Well, turns out there's some truth to that, especially when it comes to their approach to careers and success.
These digital natives are carving out their own paths, focusing on what really matters to them: flexibility, purpose, and not sacrificing their personal lives for a job.
This shift is one of the reasons I started PathSpark—to help students find careers that actually light them up and play to their strengths.
I wrote a blog post diving into all of this. Here are some highlights that might surprise you:
86% of Gen Z consider a sense of purpose important for job satisfaction, yet nearly half feel anxious or stressed due to lack of meaning in their work.
67% of Gen Z are either freelancing now or want to in the future.
Nearly 4 in 10 Gen Z-ers are juggling multiple jobs or side hustles.
They're after more than just a paycheck–they want work that gives them control, helps them grow, and feels meaningful.
Companies need to step up their game if they want to attract and keep these talented young folks.
At PathSpark, we're not just watching from the sidelines. We're adapting our approach to help this new generation find their way.
If you know any Gen Z-ers who are feeling stuck or unsure about their career path (or maybe thinking about starting their own thing), I'd love to chat with them. Feel free to send them my way!
I’m constantly told “no one asks me these types of questions”, so I know they they need help.
Thanks for being part of this journey to help young people find their spark.
With Gratitude,
Bryan
